Getting Through the Holidays

The holidays can be a difficult time for many reasons. A time that's marked by family and time with loved ones can bring up feelings of loneliness and comparison. A season filled with mashed potatoes, pie, hot chocolate, and candy canes can come with a side of guilt and shame.

If anything, instead of perpetuating diet culture rhetoric and fueling negative self talk, I want to flood your feed with some of my favorite quotes. Let's not make this year any more difficult than it already is and challenge all the negative self-talk that comes up. So don't think that you need to "starve yourself for Thanksgiving dinner," "work out to burn calories and earn your food," and are "cheating by eating a piece of pie." We can't hate ourselves into a version of ourselves that we can love.

It's the season of gratitude, and one quote that hit home is "it wasn't until I forgave myself for everything I'm not that I was able to love myself for everything that I am."
